Qur’anic Hints on Communication

The Quran in the following verses hints at using trained birds to transfer letters which today are modified as Airmail and Satellite communication and also at reconnaissance, that is, aerial survey of enemy territory to keep an eye on them:

“Hoopoe – a bird, informs Sulaiman AS that a country named Saba was ruled by a woman, who has a great throne and they worship the sun instead of Allah SWT; to check whether the bird was narrating the truth he gives it a letter, to be delivered to the Queen and instructs it to spy on them to know how they react to it. The Queen reads out the letter to her chiefs which contains an invitation to accept Islam. Sulaiman AS asks, who among his courtiers would bring him the throne of the Queen before she and her people embraced Islam? One Powerful and clever jinn said he would bring it before Sulaiman AS would leave the assembly, and another one said, who had the knowledge of the laws (as kitab meaning book, also means laws) that he would bring it before the blinking of an eye and the next moment Sulaiman AS found it infront of him”. (27:15-44)

The above verses also hint at a concept called tele-parcel or tele-transportation, which is presently under development, that any object could be transformed into its constituent energy particles and transported to its destination at the speed of light (300, 000 km/sec) and on reaching which, could be reassembled back to the original form.

The following chapter (surah) of the Quran indirectly instructs that aeroplanes could be used for aerial attacks against evil:

“Did you not consider, how your Fosterer dealt with the owners of the Elephant? Did He not make their plot useless, and send on them flocks of flying creatures, who pelted them with stones of baked clay, so that He made them like eaten up straw (husk)?” (105:1-5)

“Abrahah was the Abyssinian governor of Yemen, who built a superbly luxurios church with the aim of making the Arabs forsake their attachment to the Kaba, not succeeding in his efforts he decided to pull down the Kaba and thus ordered his army to march with the elephants to complete their mission, but just outside Makka the renowned big elephant miraculously sat down and refused to go any further. The soldiers exerted all efforts to persuade the elephant to enter the city but in vain. Meanwhile, to destroy the invading army Allah SWT sent flocks of birds to pelt them with stones of baked clay” (Qutub, Syed; In the shades of the Quran, vol-30, Pgs: 294-296)

This incident – a miracle, suggests that enemies should be taken by surprise. A stone even of one centimeter in diameter dropped from a particular height is sufficient to kill a person. The birds know their target and are very good navigators, as they can travel vast distances over land and sea yet find their way back unerringly to the exact place where they bred the previous year, and this could probably be the purpose of using them here as well as for sending messages. They use many of their senses to navigate, which include vision and hearing. Birds have highly developed sense of vision in he animal kingdom, which was helpful in targeting the army of elephants. In comparison to the birds, modern aircrafts equipped with navigational aides like radars, etc. are performing the same functions mentioned above.

The Quran also mentions about attacks in space:

وَأَنَّا لَمَسْنَا السَّمَاء فَوَجَدْنَاهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًا شَدِيدًا وَشُهُبًا
وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَاعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ فَمَن يَسْتَمِعِ الْآنَ يَجِدْ لَهُ شِهَابًا رَّصَدًا

“And we (Jinn) searched the sky but found it filled with strong guards and flames. And we (Jinn) used to sit in some of the sitting places thereof to hear but now whoever hears, he finds a flame waiting for him”. (72:8-9)

Jinn are invisible beings, and according to Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 15, are made of heat energy let free from fire, infrared radiation (which is nothing but Electromagnetic Energy), therefore, they are afraid of the guards spoken of in the above verses, which may probably be black holes, which do not allow even light (Electromagnetic Radiation) to escape through them due to very high gravitational fields and also attract anything that comes in their vicinity and the flames may probably be parts of stars in plasmic state used as missiles. This appears to be an attack using nuclear fuel against the enemy.

The above Quranic facts should have served as food for thought for the scientific community, but unfortunately we did not study the Quran keeping in view these aspects, although it is stated to be “Hudal’ linnas” – 2:185, (guidance for mankind) and claims to contain “Taf’seela Kulli Shain” – 12:111 (Explanation of everything)
